QUESTION
I would like to enter the thresholds for my power alarm bands using 0-peak (or peak-peak) scaling but the Ascent program only works in rms.
ANSWER
The vb instrument and Ascent software display power measurements for alarm overalls and bands using rms scaling (there is a separate FAQ article explaining the reasoning behind this). However, it is now possible to enter your power alarm band thresholds using 0-peak or peak-peak scaling. This can be done in several ways:
When you plot your recordings the software will still display the overalls and alarm thresholds using rms scaling. Any alarms which you entered with 0-peak or peak-peak scaling will have been correctly converted to rms for you.
